The edonis project is a 3-year study of learning professionals and their engagement with the social web.

The Research Question

How are those learning professionals participating in the edonis project using the social web for professional development and to enhance teaching and learning?

1a. In what ways are the group using the social web?
b. How are these impacting upon their concepts of professionalism and professional development?

2. How are professional development practices being challenged and changed by online ICT?

3a. What is meant when edonis participants use the term 'learning network'?
b. To what extent does this fit with work patterns?
c. Which metaphors do participants deploy when speaking of a 'learning network'?
d. In what ways do these metaphors support or challenge those which appear in literature on professional development and the social web?

4. What changes are likely in the ways that this group of learning professionals will access and engage with various forms of professional development?

5a. To what extent can this group utilise the social web within their workplace as well as at home?
b. What value is placed upon being able to do so?

6. How can forms of the social web be categorised in order to provide guidance on usefulness to learning professionals?
