Please tell the group about your work in education
Faculty in a Social Work and Disability Progam at a small college in transition to University (Mount Royal College) and Faculty at City University of Seattle Master of Counselling Psychology Program. Both program prepare students for direct practice with clients.
Briefly, in what ways do you presently use the internet in an education context?
Courses are supported by course management system (BlackBoard). Classrooms are wireless so laptops are prevalent and incorporated into how lectures evolve, for example, in this week's Social Policy Class students where divided into Federal political parties and given a Welfare State issue. The assigned task was to present their parties platform for addressing the social need. Students accessed party web pages, political (critical) blogs, welfare state advocacy web pages and political foundation (lobby) web pages. Their 'political pitch' was open to challenge from the student group.
What do you wish to get out of participating in edonis over the next 3 years?
A better understanding of incorporating the internet into the classroom to be congruent with pedagogy.

This should be great.

Looking forward to how the project evolves and learning from others experience with Web 2.0.

Hi!
I'm Paddy Miller a Chartered Teacher from Kirkcaldy In Fife. I teach Home economics in the secondary sector. My area of special interest is removing bariers to learning.

I'm really not sure what I expect to gain from being part of this group.
I am however interested in new methodologies in teaching.

I do worry though about a lesson based on a high Internet input as sometimes the conections can let you down.

Hope 2009 is good to everyone.

Kind regards Paddy

Hi Brian, thanks for adding me.

What is it about Canada that so many elearning professionals come from there?

I was there for the start of Stampede this summer - crazy stuff!

Hi Brian

Thanks for the comment about the start time. Since I set it, edonis has become international. The 2nd/3rd of November is when the first question will be issued; I'll remove mention of 9am.
